Goin' courtin!!!

In the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers they kidnap the girls they want to court and take them to their cabin in the woods. The reason I bring this movie up is irrelevant really. I just like it. But I also think the cabin idea is a wonderful one! Sure kidnapping the person you want to date is not chill. Don't do that. But an invitation to the cabin is an easy way to have a good time. There's something about the woods that brings out the best and the worst in people. Luckily for me this week it brought out the best. It gives you a way to leave the world behind you for awhile. You HAVE to communicate!! Otherwise things get real awkward real fast and you're stuck in a cabin in the woods with someone feeling extremely uncomfortable. If you're a weirdo and you thrive on others being uncomfortable and insecure, by all means take them to a cabin and don't talk. But if you're like most of society, just be normal. Talk. Be yourself. Trust me, it makes for a good time.
If both of you can be yourselves up at a cabin you can really get to know someone better. It's a majestic place full of magical potential. Is it going to be solid gold??? Depends on both parties. But one thing is for certain, a cabin is a good place to make a girl fall in LOVE! Simply stand by a window or on the porch so all they see is you, and the vast abyss of stars! Talk about a romantic setting. Did I or any of my friends make our dates fall in love with us this weekend trying out this tactic? Absolutely not. We're social stragglers with terrible interpersonal skills. But could you do this cabin thing and have it work for you? You bet your bottom dollar. So give it a shot! If nothing else it gets you away from your phone and facebook for awhile right? Good luck and may the force be with you!

Sam the Skunk

I didn't go on any dates this week, because I'm a loser. But I still gotta blog about something so I wrote ya'll a poem about a love story! Let's just say there is definitely someone out there for each of us, we just have to be willing to search for them and be patient. Love and dating is all about finding those people who can accept us for our differences!

Sam the skunk was a very sad boy
he walked the town with a mouth full of soy
he smelled bad enough with the stench from his butt
and pure fear and panic when his tail lifted up
but all sam wanted was a pal to be there
so he looked for a creature with a nose full of hair
he thought this gal should not be afraid
if sams tail slightly raised and a gas had been sprayed
her hairs would protect her from the gaseous stink
and there his friend was, it was madi the mink
now this was a match made for the ages
the joy of these two was truly contageous
when sam would slip up and gas would appear
madi just smiled with no need to fear
these two were perfect, two peas in a pod
sam was so happy he prayed to his god
thank you so much for madi the mink
who stands closely by when i start to stink
as you can tell we've made quite the pair
so i thank you for her and her awesome nose hair
and i only have one more thing left to say
i'll be grateful for her til the end of my day
god had brought madi and madi brought joy
so sam finally spit out his mouthful of soy
he had finally finished the bulk of his plan
from a very sad boy to a happy young man
let us all find a girl like madi the mink
to pick us back up when our hearts start to sink
then let us be grateful and happy each day
and kneel to our father and make sure to pray.
